Election Writing Term 3 2017

WALT: Write an effective argument for our chosen political party.

I would march for National. Would you? I would march for National because they have many good policies and points for getting into parliament for their 10th year in history. The points I am going to cover are making it easier for landlords to test properties for meth and evict tenants, continuing a social bonds plan to help people with a mental illness get into work, and last but not least why I am against the Maori party's idea to replace the Independent Police Conduct Authority with an Anti-Corruption Commission. Which I agree with all. Us as a country need to step up and get in behind National and their idea to make it easier for landlords to test properties for meth and evict tenants.

National has created a policy to make it easier for landlords to test properties for meth and evict tenants. Because of this New Zealand would be a safer country. National would change the law to make it easier for landlords to test properties for methamphetamine and evict tenants. Which I think is a great idea as people are getting into drugs but in the other hand it might not be a safe idea. Landlords would be allowed to enter their rental properties to test for methamphetamine and would be required to notify their tenants of the results of any testing. I think that they should already be allowed in but in the other hand it’s quite unsafe. Where a property is found to be contaminated to an unsafe level of meth, the landlord would be allowed to evict the tenant and the tenant would be allowed to end their tenancy. As well as our housing needing to be sorted our health needs to be too. We aren’t helping the people who are really in need of a job! Why?

National has made this great policy to continue to pilot a social bonds programme to help people with a mental illness into work. National believes that employment can help people with mental illness because it provides financial security and improves mental wellbeing. A social bonds approach uses private enterprise to help provide public services to help with this. Continuing to pilot approach in the mental health context should provide a financial incentive to mental health service providers to help get those with mental illness into work. Why does the maori party want to ruin our justice, New Zealand's justice? And this is why I'm against their idea to  replace the Independent Police Conduct Authority with an Anti-Corruption Commission. Why does the Maori Party want to ruin our justice , New Zealand's justice? And this is why I'm against their idea to  replace the Independent Police Conduct Authority with an Anti-Corruption Commission

National has made a promise to the country to improve health , housing and justice. The points I have gone over today were ; making it easier for landlords to test properties for meth and evict tenants, continuing a social bonds plan to help people with a mental illness get into work, and last but not least why I am against the Maori party's idea to replace the Independent Police Conduct Authority with an Anti-Corruption Commission. So have you voted yet?

My next steps are: To add more conjunctions and more emotive launguage.

Key Leadership 9

Librarian

On Wednesday I went to the Library as my job as a Librarian. We had to put away more than 50 books! Mrs Ward was fixing some books at her desk whilst Brianna and I put them away. I have 1 overdue book but I haven't finished reading it so I renewed it. I got a book out called The Castle it's a really good book. It's by Sophia Bennett. I showed the CARE values by turning up and I also showed the leadership traits by using my active thinking by extending my knowledge and trying new books.

Letter Writing

Letter Writing

In Writing we have been learning to write a formal letter.

We have followed the writing process and have planned and drafted a formal letter.

This shows the process that we have followed.

Here is the letter that I have written Link
Here is my reflection on the letter writing that we have done.
Link ( I could not fill out some of the boxes because I wasn't there for those parts )

One thing that I found challenging about writing formal letters was the fact that it needed to be written in a formal fashion and everything needed to be correct e.g punctuation, spelling

My next step is: look for more opportunities to put my letter writing knowledge into practice in the future.

Leadership in the community 8

Student Council

At Student council. We found out that the PTA are having a sausage sizzle that day, so now we need to select a new day for the Student Council Ice Cream Day for 2017. I shared my idea of having it at morning tea. But then we didn't think we had enough time to serve everyone. I showed the CARE values by always showing up and contributing to a group discussion.  I showed the Leadership trait of Active Thinker because when I came up with an idea I shared it with the group.

Leadership in the community #7

Student Council

At Student council. We decided on more information about ice cream day. We are going to be serving it in a ice cream cup and will come with a spoon. We decided on $2.50 on an ice cream . I personally thought it would be a good idea to sell them as $1 for 1 scoop $2 for 2 scoops. We decided that the Year 6's Student Council representatives should make an order form on a Google doc. They will go around the classes and ask who will buy it and what flavor. I showed the CARE values by always showing up and contributing to a group discussion.  I showed the Leadership trait of Active Thinker because when I came up with an idea I shared it with the group.

Homelearning Challenge #5

Egypt      &      New Zealand

What I had to do was choose a country which was Egypt and compare its similarities and differences to New Zealand.

                         Similarities

  • Both have strong tourism
  • Both gained independence from Britain
  • Both use hydro electric power
  • Both have participated in the summer Olympics since the start of the 20th century
                        Differences

  • In Egypt they earn 78.29% less money
  • They use 84.79% less electricity
  • Different languages
  • Egypt has a way higher population
  • In Egypt they start primary school when they are six and we start primary school at 5
